Nature is always free and here on the island of Palma de Mallorca, it’s a masterpiece. Cala Pi – Cabo Blanco is a 9.8 mile (15.8 km) hike along the coastline. Although a portion of the hike is further inside the mountain, I highly recommend enjoying the views from the coast as long as you can!

It was my 27th birthday on February 5th and I was back to living a college budget. Moving countries is expensive and I still haven’t had luck with finding a job. However, thanks to my several years of traveling, budgeting isn’t an issue for me. I decided a hike with stunning views would be plenty for a birthday celebration. I invited a few of the friends I made and we set off to explore at about 11:30.

Very quickly into the hike, the views begin to take your breath away. The water is a turquoise blue with blotches of different shades flowing through it. You begin at the beach of Cala Pi and work your way up the side of the mountain with stairs that are located by the local fisherman. Once you have arrived at the top, the path is clear on where to go.

However, I recommend veering off the path a bit and sticking close to the water. In between the loops and ridges of the mountainside, the views are a gift to the eyes. Captivated by the beauty, we did not complete the hike that day. Instead, we choose to cliff jump into the water, eat where the rocks were flatter, and meditate where the water sang.

Here I am contemplating whether this is the safest spot to jump and how I would climb back up. It wasn’t the spot. But our persistence was worth it once we finally located a safe cliff with depth in the water and a short climb back up. Did I jump in my birthday suit for my birthday? That’s for me to know and you to never find out. But if you would like to jump as well, I would suggest keeping an eye out about 30 min into the hike. There will be a piece where the water cuts through the path and a mini beach located at the bottom. Just above that beach to the right-hand side (off the path but along the water) there will be a cliff about 7-10 meters high that is safe to jump!

You will have to climb down a bit to reach it, so be careful. Along the same wall on the mountain further right, there is a slanted path with rocks in the water where you can begin to climb back up. This is the view from where you can jump!

I did this hike on February 6th, so the water was COLD but entirely worth the experience. If you are courageous enough to jump, be careful with the rocks at the bottom (no diving headfirst) and the sea urchins on the climb back up. Or else you’ll end up hurting yourself before the best views begin to appear. I would also recommend wearing appropriate shoes for a rocky floor. If you have injuries on your ankles, a brace is worth the investment.

Lots of love y’all and enjoy the hike. Can’t wait to see your pictures in the comments below!
