I’m gonna need ya’ll to be real with me now because it’s your vacation and you’re the one paying for it. Before you plan your next trip, ask yourself these 3 questions: What do I want to do? What do I want to see? What kind of budget do I have in mind?

What do you want to do?

You wouldn’t go to Antarctica if you were interested in surfing, would you? My point exactly. Deciding what kind of vacation you want makes choosing your next travel destination much easier.

What are your priorities when you travel or go on vacation? Is it food, sightseeing, beaches, cultural exchange, nature exploration, or partying?

What kind of traveling did you have in mind?  Road trip, Backpacking, hiking, or glamping?

If not having a comfortable place to sleep is a deal-breaker for you, then would you be willing to compromise on transportation costs or fancy restaurants?

What do you want to see?

Every destination offers a different kind of beauty. While Asia provides a glimpse into a world some of us only know in movies, Europe will entertain our desires of royalty.

Nature, architecture, food, and local activities are easy to find once you have an idea of what you want to see.

But ask yourself, what’s important? The Lost City in Colombia, Vincent Van Goghs museum in Amsterdam, or the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand? All a sight to see, I can guarantee that, but only if it’s what you have an interest in spending precious vacation time on.

The goal is to fill your itinerary only with what lights up your soul.

What kind of budget do I have in mind?

The biggest part of your budget will most likely go towards your top priorities, but that’s okay! The trip should be about all the things you hope to achieve on your bucket list.

Not always do we get to do everything we had in mind, but with a budget to be aware of, you can navigate alternative options. From experience, there are always local discounts for students, seniors, and children. As well as specific dates on which certain places are free. For many years the visit to the Roman Colosseum was free every 1st Sunday of every month, (but not after 2019.)

Finding out what’s most important for you when you think of traveling or going on vacation can be the difference in creating memories of a lifetime, and not getting annoyed while looking forward to going back home.

In case you are not traveling alone, then I recommend you align your priorities along with your partner/group. This can be a bit frustrating at times, but I’ve got a few tips on how you can ease the process HERE.
