Or as my brother would say, “I’ve got eyes like a hawk, and reflexes like a puma!” But this has nothing to do with that. Reflexology is a type of therapy that uses gentle pressure on specific points along your feet, hands, and sometimes ears.
It helps stimulate the body’s own healing process while bringing a deep state of relaxation. The theory behind reflexology is that the organs, nerves, glands, and other body parts are all connected to reflex areas or points in the hands, feet, and ears.
As you can see, there are particular areas that are matched with corresponding parts of the body. Such as how the heel of the foot is connected to your sciatica nerve or how the center of the thumb is connected to your pituitary gland.
Reflexology is a holistic approach in bringing balance to the body, but it is not a therapy used to diagnose illness. Instead, it should be used as a complementary form of preventative care. Along with diet, meditation, exercise, supplements, and medication, reflexology can help improve and increase your healing process. Although it is not used to diagnose, it has been known to treat common conditions in the body ranging from acne, asthma, psoriasis, and a sore throat.
