What (& How) to Pack for Longer Travel

Before you get overwhelmed at the thought of packing for a long trip, sit down and take a deep breath. You’re about to go on vacation! First things first, let’s check the weather. No matter where you’re going you should always check the weather first, as this will determine what you will have to pack. One thing is for sure though (at least for me), I pack a bikini and a sarong no matter what the weather is like. Not sure if that’s South Florida in me or my Brazilian side, but I do.

I have always been good at math. It was my highest score all throughout grade school and I aced my accounting classes in undergrad. So you can imagine my surprise when I found myself in a $90,000 debt with no job and no perspectives interviews. The self-critic in me just kept repeating, “How did you let it get this bad Taynah? VIVA LA RE-CIS-TANCE!

Coming out hasn’t been exactly easy. I was raised in an environment that told me I wasn’t allowed to exist. (No wonder I was a spunky child.) When I finally decided that it wasn’t up to someone else to decide that, I greeted those who challenged me with fists. I demanded to be seen, heard, and understood. It was my way or the highway, and I was quick to kick you to the curb. Fortunately, that high road didn’t last long. My fists only attracted fights and my peace was once again, at the mercy of others.
